***I'm planning on posting several posts today, so you might have to go back a bit if you are keeping up! :o)
Jen H. had this post on her blog which she borrowed from someone else, and I'm doing the same...I'm crazy about the holidays. That first cold snap hits and I'm thinking about Christmas. In fact, last year since Evie was due on the 21st and I didn't know if she might come early, I put our tree up REALLY early...I think early November, and we packed our Ipod with Christmas songs so I could be sure to celebrate Christ's birth with lots of songs even if "Seven" came on Christmas. Well, it was a good thing, since my water broke at 2:00 a.m. Christmas Eve!! She was our Christmas Eve present (coincidentally named "Evie") and I spent pretty much that whole Christmas week in the hospital after my C-section. Ahh nostalgia. I digress. The point of this post is to share some of our holiday traditions and also find out what your traditions are. Here are mine:
1. Growing up, the "Santa gift" was left unwrapped under the tree, which was great cuz that way I could get out of bed, check out that one gift, then be satisfied for a little while as my parents kept sleeping.
2. Richard and I celebrate Advent every year with a wreath, lighting of candles, a devotional, and Christmas carols/guitar every Sunday of Advent.
3. This is a non-Christmas tradition that we started, along with our friend Karin, before we were married: The "First Chili Night of the Year." Since the first cold snap of the Fall is a HUGE deal in Texas, Richard and I watch the forecast, and when that cold front is predicted, we get on Evite and invite our friends for a Chili Night. Sometimes the weatherman isn't too accurate so we have to crank the A/C to make it seem chilly. I'm praying our house is done before a cold snap hits or we might have to celebrate the "2nd Chili Night of the Year."
So, your turn...What are your traditions??

I bet we will have to miss chili night this year. How sad. We have alreay had a number of evenings that would qualify. I will have to post Christmas traditions on my blog but not tonight.
We always got brand new PJ's on Christmas Eve to wear to bed. Then, you looked "spiffy" for any Christmas morning pictures.
My mom is part Italian, so instead of turkey for our big Christmas dinner we always had homemade lasagna and meatballs...yum! Matt has grown to love this tradition. :)
I loved my friend Courtney's idea about the Jesse Tree. I had never heard of it before and plan on starting it this year or next:
