First Weekend Away from Evie

A few weekends ago, Richard and I had our first weekend away from Evie. One of the guys in Richard's Bible study got married in Houston, and Richard was an usher. We left Evie with my mom & dad. It was SUCH a fun weekend! For one thing, we got to eat lots of yummy food! Since Richard was in the wedding we got to go to the rehearsal dinner and they had "Surf & Turf." So good! It was lots of fun to hear stories about the couple, Justin & Jennifer. They are really neat, godly people.

The wedding was lots of fun too because we got to dance. Since Richard and I shoot weddings, we go to a lot of weddings, but get to participate in very few, especially since we've passed the "lots of weddings" phase with our friends. The dancing made me a bit nostalgic...I first became interested in Richard at our friends', Phillip & Jill's, wedding. I am not a great dancer when it comes to "couples" dancing. I've got okay rhythm for doing the "White Man's Overbite" and stuff like that, but I can't follow a man's lead to save my life. So, even though as a single gal I always wanted to be asked to dance, it also made me a bit nervous. Especially since here in Texas there are lots of guys who are expert two-steppers and some of them take it pretty seriously. So, when Richard asked me to dance, it was a delightful surprise to find that 1)He wasn't that great a dancer either and 2)He couldn't care less and instead, had lots of fun with it. At that point, I was pretty much hooked! :o)

It was so nice because, since Evie is crazy about her grandparents, I wasn't all worried about her; I could just enjoy the weekend. Here was one of my favorite parts of our weekend getaway: WE GOT TO SLEEP IN TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!!!!!!!!

Our friend, Trent, took these pictures of us. The first one is our version of "American Gothic."
